From The Look Down

Another spotlight, make the headlines.
A final shout-out to the ranks of the-do-fine.
Did I make you stop and think?
Now looking down… from the look down,
me and every other ghost in this town
who couldn’t live life on the brink.

And I say - hey. There’s got to be a way
for everyone who couldn’t be.
Yeah, I say - hey. There’s got to be a way.
Gotta be a way… for me.

Now I’ve opened my eyes. I finally see
the lonely eyes that once looked back at me.
We shared the emptiness inside,
each wanting what the other had.
Well, I guess we all lied… just trying to be.

And I say - hey. There’s got to be a way
for everyone who cannot be.
Yeah, I say - hey. There’s got to be a way.
Gotta be a way… for me.

We all want to change the world, don’t we?
Let a new flag unfurl, but tell me -
how can anything change if our hearts stay the same?
It’s not even worth a try unless we change the reason why…
we live.

So I say - hey. There’s got to be a way
for everyone who trying be.
Yeah, I say - hey. There’s got to be a way.
Gotta be a way… for me.

Your poem is heartfelt. So many ask these questions. It's just living day to day and hoping there's a way.
