Karma pertains to a path from intention to action and resulting conclusion. Cause and effect. Life in all its forms is depicted to be a circle. Unfortunately the concept has been diminished (and thus abused) to the half hearted mission of doing good only to reap the benefits in return. But as Immanuel Kant described just like the Buddha and Hindu Gods, it is best to be virtuous for the sake of doing the right thing and not for some perceived benefit. Otherwise the Self and the Ego will be simply rehashed and not reincarnated towards a higher spiritual level. And then the Sisyphus in us will continue with his stone and that would be purely absurd.
