Friend Please

I am a terrible friend. 
Why I can't keep my mouth shut,
I'll never understand. 

I should have just stayed silent, 
At least then I'd have nothing
Of which to repent. 

I'm sorry that I hurt you. 
You know I didn't mean to so
Give punishment where it is due. 

Scream and yell and be mad! 
As long as everything's okay.
As long as we keep what we had. 

I am forever sorry friend. 
I swear I would have shut my mouth 
If I'd known where it would end.
