Friend
It has been a while since he called
And I miss him deeply
Long to hear his voice
His casual remarks on how unsociable I am
I miss him dearly
We weren’t thick as thieves
But we did share an easy laugh
Comfortable silent and idle chit chat
I long for the days when business brought us together
Days when he was no more than a stroll away
Days when we chatted, sitting side by side
And I marvelled at the easy way he lives his life freely
I wish he calls more
I wish my wounded ego will heal
From missed called unreturned
And hope that pride won’t stop me from calling him
Never properly learned the etiquette of friendship
As a child, I often wandered and played alone
Teenage years weren’t much different
Now I wonder, why should adulthood be any different?
But still I miss him
Missing the company we once shared
The easy way we chit chat idly
The feeling of knowing I am his friend
I truly miss you
And I have no doubt that we are still friend
No doubt whatsoever
But I just wished that we are thick as thieves
