Friend

Thinking of you so much today
thoughts that have a lot to say

Recounting all we have been through
couldn’t have made it without you

So many times just wanting to flee
yet you continued to believe in me

We have truly been blessed to have each to lean on—
to cry with; to laugh with; life’s demons be gone

A true treasure of a friend
A friend to the end.

A heartfelt, rhyming friendship couplet sequence, this poem has a warm, conversational sincerity. Its paired end-rhymes give the gratitude a steady, reassuring rhythm, while the movement from hardship to shared laughter makes the tribute feel both personal and uplifting. The closing repetition of “friend” provides a simple, affectionate sense of permanence.
