Friend

I yielded my heart’s desire
Upon LOVE’s request
May I have a friend, please
To give alone a rest

She came as a challenge
Felt like a slap upon my face
A year of serving LOVE
In every moment, there was Grace

Again, I asked for the same
This time, friend had a different name

They came in moments of need
Undefined before connection
LOVE unearthed abundance
Previously experienced as rejection

Though grateful and following
I had nothing to hold and treasure
Always aware of who I am
Truth’s presence rarely brings pleasure

Then, came you, compassionate flow
Watering hope, helping it expand and grow

I love the innocence of your heart
Glowing with pink fragrant petals
Allowing the dream of FRIEND
To shape and settle

….longing
