Friday Night Blues

I bet she’s out painting the town
Foot-loose, feelin’ fancy and free
Not wasting one thought over me

Decked out in her favorite gown
Satin silk and split to the thigh
On a reckless, rollicking high

Dancing with some sweet talkin’ clown
Who knows every trick of the trade
Lost count of the conquests he’s made

Some playboy of local renown
Reciting his tired old routine
(“Don’t wake me if this is a dream”)

Her feet getting swept off the ground
Rebounding with a one night stand
Pay-back for her cheatin’ old man

Yes, I bet she’s out painting the town
Decked out in her favorite gown
Dancing with some sweet talkin’ clown
Some playboy of local renown
Her feet getting swept off the ground

Though not a C & W fan, I know that song and like your inspired verse a lot. Congratulations on your win.

Hi Tim - You nailed it whatever the dirge it's based on. Makes me want to pull up a stool and order a sarsaparilla. Hope your holiday season runs smooth and peaceful. Not an easy time. hugs Kathy
