Freedom's song
She left here last week
Just before the break of dawn,
Crossed the state line bridge
As he woke to find her gone.
Did not leave a note,
Cared not for who was to blame;
She would change it all,
Her face, her hair, and her name.
No more Mrs Jones,
No more kitchen duties now;
He can do what e'er,
It don't matter anyhow.
Flirt with the neighbour,
Go out drinking with his friends;
Live like he's twenty
When the party never ends.
Her bruises will heal,
Her nightmares are soon to fade;
One day she will know
'twas the best decision made.
Today's the third time
She's moving to a new town,
And she's fairly sure
That she now will not be found.
Saw it on the news
As she laid upon her bed,
While robbing a bank
The two masked men were shot dead.
Pictures on the screen
Showed clearly each dead man's face,
There was the image
She'd never come to erase.
That was five years gone
And so many things have changed,
She since moved back home
And had the house re-arranged.
Guess it all works out,
What's to come will always be;
She is now at peace,
From the past she's been set free.
