Freedom's Journey
...it seems so long ago,
but it hasn't happened yet.
a moment to remember,
a moment to forget...
It started on its journey
some uncounted years ago.
Learned to fight, yes to survive,
and damned the river's flow.
Unwanted as a baby,
mistreated as it grew.
Standing on the outside,
see sadness, paint it blue.
One day it watched a mirror
and the mirror watched it back.
All alone in such a crowd,
a mirror painted black.
...yes, it died a while ago,
but I still hear its cries.
A moment to remember,
for the mirror never lies...

This is one of the first poems I wrote.

I am not sure why I sat down to write,
but felt so good to write it out
