Freedom Not Equality

Oh, it never ends, This eternal fight for our freedoms And yet we don’t consider The freedoms of others To be worth a fight So why do we fight together To allow for our ideals? Does anyone truly want a world Where everyone is free Where everyone is equal Where everyone can be Or do we just pretend to So we can live our lives Looking down on others Who we don’t understand Free from danger Free from pain Are these our true freedoms Of which we are so proud? The freedom to turn away from horrors Happening all around The freedom to ignore the child Holding out his hand The freedom to openly criticize The hungry and the poor And so I ask my final question What is our freedom for?
