Free Will

At some point, you left the nest
It might not necessarily have been the best starting point
It's all  part of the test, if it's even a test
Those people plan to keep you in debt
until your death
Even then, they harass your people
Can't even die for free in the land of the free
Bossing up is the only way to afford the fee
And that isn't easy when you come from nothing
Some people are born with silver spoons, fortunately
If you aren't part of the THEM's
Then you're part of the ME's
Better cross your I's and dot your T's
Mistakes don't go over so cordially
They also say love doesn't cost a thing
When in reality it's the most costly
Like most men, you won't know what it's cost me
That's why our hearts are coated in frosting
That's part of how our stories end
Here's a glimpse of the start
Before we're even born, our parents had the choice to abort us
Based on selfish reasons, or not having the means to support us
Make it to birth, that's when they start to extort us
The Census Bureau is the agency to which they report us
The debts are already owed before school starts
While there, by our aptitudes, they sort us
Into social circles afforded by our parents' dues
Hopefully, society's taunting doesn't lead you to ending it too soon
After school, our kids exhaustedly choose
A job or career that is mentally and physically daunting
I spent so much time as a kid thinking about adulthood
That when that time comes, our childhood is haunting 
Cog's in a machine
Before we know, free will is a real thing
They cast out their line
never knowing what their reel will bring
But they have a clue
Death is our only freedom
lives spent affording fortitude
It's been quite apparent that our freedom's overdue
