Fractured Smile Trimeric

Burned and completely dismayed,
cold stare shadows the softest lips;
Longing to feel safe to smile,
never wanting to be hurt again;

Cold stare shadows the softest lips;
They can’t bring themselves to explore
the possibility of being open again;

Longing to feel safe to smile,
yet the chill protected for so long;
Nothing penetrates like a thaw;

Never wanting to be hurt again,
courage slowly melts the eyes;
Fractured smile finally reawakens.

Smiling at your poem's wonderful ending. Fractured smile reawakens! Yay! Pain and the source of pain have gone. I can see your poem's protagonist walking boldly into the next chapter of her life's story, smiling boldly. Hurrah!
