Four Crows On 76th Street

Four Crows on 76th Street

High above the intersection,
Four Crows look out on the rest of us.
Some of us stop at their light, some of us
turn right or left.
The Four Crows watch all this and nudge
each other on occasion, or hop to the
other side of the Four Crows, establishing
their lineage in a different degree
of pecking order, only they understand.
The Crow on the right nudges and pecks a bit
at the Crow next to him…this makes the
other three unsteady on the 76th street sign
for the briefest moment.
Settled again,
they watch cars stop again at the light,
and others,
…turn right or left.

Hi James. Sometimes I wonder what creatures think as they watch us rushing about. Nice write. Did I tell you that I am going to try to start commenting again? I have just been too weepy these past three months…commenting became difficult. I do enjoy reading your wonderful poetry, though. And I appreciate your strengths. Thanks for understanding. God be with you and keep up the excellent writing. Lovingly, Dane Ann
