Four

Like an allspice incensed quartet chorus, the spirit of the living Word unveils before us. Holy foundational page corners turn in cardinal winds as red letters churn, proclaiming the Gospel to each earthly corner, through bolted borders, even reaching the scorner. Psalms of praise pour throughout new charted lands, with forgiveness refreshing DNA strands. Gifts of the Holy Spirit, miracles, signs, and wonders roar throughout the world like mighty thunders. A stringed creation symphony awakens the dead. As limbs leap from their seat, they lift up their head. "Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness," a choir of exalted hosannas express, "and for His wonderful works to the children of men!"* Their thankful voices to heaven ascend. As they await the One whose garments were rent, in weakness they gain strength, upon their knees bent. Drum beats come closer, with a compass arrow leading. Listen not to your heart's chambers, but to the Savior's pleading. Continue to partake of the precious wine and bread. Sour, salty, sweet, and bitter days are ahead. Deck suits are drawn with prophetic events stacking. Wheels keep spinning with few piled cards lacking. The last days hold secrets beyond brain lobe expression, with a lion, ox, man, eagle face impression. White, red, black, pale horses will align with their riders, conquest, war, famine, death, their fateful coinsiders. Angels will hold back winds so they will not blow. No life can survive without God's energy flow. A table is propped to prepare the marriage feast. Canine teeth await from the north, south, west, and east. Pison, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates will replenish with living waters for the saved caught like fish. Behold, a new moon phase is coming soon. Prepare the shofar sound to be in tune. The harvest will come, to separate wheat from tares. If you have ears, heed while heaven prepares. Repent, o Jerusalem, to the corners near and far. Repent, all creation, while the door remains ajar. Thanks for your comments, Beata. I enjoyed studying the number four in scripture, but there are many more biblical examples that I didn't cover. There are some interesting and informative poems I've read that have taken the number a completely different direction. There are many ideas to play around with. God bless you.

Thanks, Andrea. Yet there's lots more out there. I had to stop before my thoughts got too tangled. It's been interesting to read others' interpretations of the number four.

The four rivers of Eden especially caught my eye, and I have always wondered about there location. I suspect that God is likely to unvell such mystery to a person like you. Awesome.

Genesis 2:10-14. I used KJV. I've seen them translated into modern place names in other versions. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Juliet. I don't recall seeing your name before I entered the contest, What's In A Name. This poem, Four, is the first of your poems I have read. This is rather creative and unique, keeping me focused throughout. Also, thanks for the comments and being flexible with my placement. I was touched by your words.

Thanks, Jenish. I had drafted this in free verse a few months back and left it alone because the thoughts were all over the place. I thought I'd revisit it again with rhyme.
