Notes About The Poem

For Your Choice v Poetry Contest sponsored by Brian Strand

Found and Lost

I found it when I was only three,
and then I took it home with me.
I put it deep within my pocket
like a lover's precious locket.
I found it calmly quelled each fear,
so, for sixty years, I kept it near.
One fine day, it said, "look at me".
Why did I throw it in the sea?

Why indeed? Childhood should never be thrown away. There was magic in youth.
