Fortunate One

Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like
had I been born as one of the lucky in life.

I question how much different my life would be
If I had been born into wealth or high society

Would I have learned to take without knowing the cost
Would I find it easier to laugh whenever I lost

Knowing that somewhere the price would be paid
Saying “ I’ve got no worries …I’ve got it made”

Other times I wonder what it would be like
had I been born lucky with a face people like.

To be stared at and admired for something that was given to me
the gift of good looks…..the gift of beauty.
A price never paid, coming for free
and yet something where others looked on..
…in awe of me.

But instead here I am no more than a man
No more than average scrapping for all I can

Nothing Free,
Nothing Easy
………because Society smiled….

I had to make my way by walking hard miles
working hard so as not to be held back.

Yes I wonder sometimes what it would be like
……
 to.
have.
been.
born.
lucky

Born into the high social graces
Born among the beautiful faces
born to never know the taste of work and failure

The taste of sweat as it rolled down my face
To have been born a child of Favor’s grace
