Forth of July

Laughter floating on the warm summer breeze.
Hotdogs and hamburgers sizzling on the grill.
Families and friends gather all at their ease.
A nation is born out of sheer will.
Perceived in liberty and in God they trust.
The struggle for freedom was more than a fight.
It was people standing up for what was just.
Under God they stood and fought in His light.
For all the right reasons this nation now stands.
We celebrate it all with fireworks in the sky.
Flying the flag proudly hoping the world understands
that freedom still rings on the Forth of July.

What a tremendous sense of patriotism, pride and joy emanates from your words, Allan. Here's hoping our nation will fly the flag of freedom for millennia to come! Very inspiring poem. Love, Carolyn

I enjoyed reading your words, today. This poem is particularly beautiful and is a reminder of what a Great Nation this has been over the past nearly 250 years. May God continue to bless it as prayers are sent up to Him. (And hopefully there are still enough of those going up to save us from the ills and fate of "Babylon".) Thank you for sharing your heartfelt thoughts with us through your poetry. And thank you for your recent comments on my work. Smiles, Dane Ann
