Forsaken Mother

"i sought redemption, found forsaken forests- i craved lands of holy waters, yet the gods bestowed the desert." i felt the fever with chills running down my spine, for i had lost something precious that was only mine. he was born with a heart defect and died in my arms, only two hours old; a mother should save a child from harm. he was my beautiful rose in the morning sunlight, but his heart too weak and finally gave up the fight. my sweet baby was gone and i'm still forlorn and weep, for i can not function, all i do is tremble and constantly sleep. he was once in my safe and warm mother womb, now he rests gently in a freezing december lonely tomb. i fear the future will only be full of sadness and more regret, but those tiny ten fingers and toes i shan't ever be able to forget. What a heart-wrenching but great poem, LL. I hope it's not true.
