Forsaken

Forgotten lie the graves of the forsaken,
long unremembered, strangled
by the grasses of neglect.
Misbegotten, forever mute they fester,
worm-mingled, mercy less,
without a vestige of respect.

              ******

...an exercise in assonance and alliteration
