Forlorn Heart

The love that I make will never be true,
As the girl I make love to, will never be you.
The girl I make love to, she has not your face.
When closed are my eyes, it's her you replace.
The girl I make love to will bring me to tears,
When I talk to my conscience, it's your voice I hear.
The girl I make love to acts with such grace,
She knows I see you, in our cold embrace.
The girl I make love to, will leave me today,
As you did before her, a lifetime away.

If you like, you can put this under Couplets, or Rhyme. I am sorry that you are so sad, at least the tone of your poem is very sad.... There is pain in your words. Welcome to PoetrySoup

Thank you for you comments. I am only an amateur writer, so dont know a great deal of the technical side of writing. This poem has also been set to music, by a good songwriter friend of mine. So I wondered if it were a lyric.. This poem was actually written some years ago now, most of my poems are quite old, but many of my poems all seem to carry the same theme.. I only ever really write when i'm feeling down. It helps me turn those negative feelings into something creative. I thought it was about time I let people read them. Thank you for the welcome.
