Forlorn

How do you pick up the pieces of
A broken life
When all about you are chaos, confusion,
And constant strife
The things you knew were constant are
Now taken away
Heaven has called home the one you loved
Everyday

How do you reclaim your old life
And routine
When so many things have been cut out so
Neat and clean
The simple things you once enjoyed are now
Just not so
There’s a hole in your heart few will
Ever know

How do you trust that no one else will ever leave
You now
You try to live on and have a normal life but the worry
Lives on your brow
You have fun in spurts and laugh once
In a while
But the fun feels forced and fake
Seems the smile

How do you ever trust that God is a
Benevolent soul
When to take away a loved one is the work
Of a troll
How do you reclaim this once strong
God-fearing belief
When ranting and blaming Him is all that gives
You relief

How do you live with this all-encompassing
Pain
That the sun can’t warm and doesn’t wash with
The rain
The hole in my life will never be filled and
I’m so worn
My mom would want me to be happy, but for now
I’m forlorn
