FORGOTTEN TRADITIONS

What happened to storytelling The late-night gatherings Around flames where stories of old Were being told? What happened to those folk songs Tales of the tortoise and the spider That taught young folks important lessons Of the art of war and manhood? What happened to the Poroh, the Ojeh The "Sandeh," the "Tittilegbeh"— Schools for young girls Where the art of womanhood was taught? How can this be forgotten Wiped off the face of the earth? It's like we've lost our way. Why is the narrative of our history seen through the eyes of outsiders?
