Forgotten By Time
Lying in a field forgotten by time,
beauty on the surface keeps the truth blind.
Grass covering a man without a soul,
etched words begin a story sadly untold.
A soldier sent to fight another man's war,
left his family home and traveled afar.
He found his fate at the end of a gun,
life filled with promise now over and done.
He returned home with plenty of glory,
a solemn end to this young Hero's story.
Proud parents mourned as they buried their son,
joy left in the past, in the future there's none.
Many years have passed and left behind,
a story in a field forgotten by time.
