Forever Ours, Dreaming

[Verse 1]
We’re together, laughing
I hear your voice, not the words.
Everything about you soothes me.
I reach for your hand, you step behind,
pull me into you.

Breath on my neck,
lips find my skin,
hips press in…
Your arms like iron, so strong, so safe.
You rock me side to side
slowly.

[Pre-Chorus]
Back and forth to the distant music,
you hum in my ear.
I am weightless,
you free me of worry…
your soft laugh.

[Chorus ]
I feel your feet next to mine,
we move in time
swaying side to side.
A slow dance, you behind me.
Don’t you ever let go…
Don’t you ever let go…

You bring me peace,
awaken desire.
Don’t you ever let go.

[Verse 2]
Dancing in the dark,
no start and no end.
The warmth of your arms,
the touch of your breath.

Gentle sway,
music far away.
I am swept in the moment,
the day disappears.

[Bridge]
Then it strikes me
you are gone.
I am dreaming.
Loss again, emotions reeling.

You soothe me back to sleep,
say it’s okay…
you’ll always be here,
in some assured way.

[Outro]
And as time moves on,
I know this is our song.
I see you in my sleeping,
feel your embrace.

I hear your voice,
I know your touch.
These nights will stay with me
forever ours, dreaming…
forever ours, dreaming.

Thank you! I wrote the lyric for a contest song and then put it to new music to release it. I love it too. An inspiration that popped out.

Dear Susan, Your poem/song felt like being swept into a dream where love is both present and elusive. I could almost hear the distant music and feel the sway of that slow dance. Holiday Blessings, Dear Susan, Daniel

I have lived it. So it was a memory made into a lyrical poem set to music. One of my better ones . Thank you for your note.
