Forever Dawn

By Laura Dee

I can't stop the fire
It's burning too much
Impaled by desire
Melting me with a touch

I'm breathing so fast
The air is too smooth
My skin is a cast
Too tired to move

I'm screaming out loud
Not making a sound
Don't care if I'm proud
There's no one around

I'll never leave here
My soul will remain
I'm feeling so clear
I'm going insane

This isn't the end
The final last call
It's living, my friend
I'll start at a crawl

You can't help me now
From the inside on out
So don't ask me how
These days full of doubt

If I make it through
I'll untie my noose
I'll straighten it out
These days of abuse

One day I'll evolve
And smile so wide
The problems I'll solve
I'll smile with pride

These days are way long
Forever stays, the dawn awaits
But when I fall I'll still belong
With morning comes an honest fate

And morning comes
To bring a song
I'll hum along
Forever dawn
