Forever

We wish for that someone special to share
To shout amidst our most triumphant stare
And wipe words from our crying eye

A hand to clutch on the darkest of nights
To tell us everything will be alright
A light to hold us when a world won’t

A crutch to raise hope without contempt
Lift our spirits when care seems spent
And hover patiently above despair

A smile to convey when convictions go astray
A tone of humility that always finds a way
To remind us humanity is not a sin

A virtue which seeks while time boasts
To cradle a soul in an eternal toast
That you will always be there

So here we stand, hand in hand
Knowing our days will eventually end
But not the love, of our lives
