Forests and Stars
I carried my longbow
Into twilight
Amongst trees
That whispered and sighed
And welcomed the night
In the reflected glow
I looked up to the stars
To the constellations
That I came to know
I traced a finger down the wings
Of my longbow
Felt it course through
I had the meanings
For the inlaid eagle
Shared a name too
Of stars
Of constellations
Of eagles
Of a longbow
Of a name
Of me
Aquila……..
In the firelight
Of stars bright
Aquila shone
In a forest wood
I now understood
Forest and stars
Firelight
Star bright
An eagle in the night sky
Arrows to fly
