Forest On Fire
The dense smoke billowing throughout the morning air
Flames jumped from tree top to tree top putting us in deep despair
With each step, our breathing becomes more laboured
The intense heat that envelopes us is surely not doing us any favors
To make matters worse a strong wind is now fanning the flames
Branches on fire escape from their trunks now litter the terrain
Just to add to our plight the noise that the blaze creates is so deafening to endure
Time to find our way to safety is running out, that we can say for sure
Just when all hope would appear to be lost, a voice can be heard
Off to our right, a firefighter appears ensuring us a safe return
To the brave people who rescued us today, thanks are hardly enough
To all first responders, I salute you for being in harm's way to protect us
