It's dark, and gloomy, and gray The pall of the world shed tears on the grass The cloud is a curtain all day Winter is coming, the foreclosures won't pass I long to sweat again in May Florida is more sand than clay.

I feel your pain, David...that these gloomy days would pass is my wish also, but it seems we have to endure them to get to fair weather again. Your last line in my humble opinion is "deep". I wish we had some sunshine to send your way but we're in the same boat. Peace and blessings to you and yours, always, Audrey

This, like almost every one of your poems is exceptional in its quality, head and shoulders above any I have read on The Soup (to be frank).... I found you r comment on my poem "Hidden Beauty" and was honoured to read it....if I could write the sort of stuff you are able to regularly father, I would indeed be a good poet. ( I know I have said this before in as many words)....thank you very much for your support.....most sincerely....Syd

Very sad our country is in now..I feel so for the families..Our daughter has been out of work for nearly three years for health reasons and that takes a toll on a families' economics when they are use to two incomes..Our son is out of work for health reasons and it will be soon a year on his not working..Life is not always easy...Your way of expressing the times is excellent..I am glad that I chose this one to read this morn..Your comments on my work lifted my spirits..Sara

There's a sadness in this poem that may be associated with the season. Shorter days and cold without the beauty of snow make Florida an unpleasant place to spend winter sometimes. The good news is you aren't likely to have to wait until May to "sweat again." We'll have some better weather long before then. Hot and cold in the Sunshine State throughout the winter. Intriguing poem. People think it's hot here all year long. Love, Carolyn
