One of the hardest things to do in life is to quit smoking tobacco. I've tried numerous times but every time I tried eventually I have gone back to that damn cancer stick. I lost my mother at the early age of fifty nine from smoking so you would think I would have learned my lesson. Well, it's been over a year ago since I wrote this poem and threw away my last pack of smokes. Hope all of you who want to quit, stick with it and keep up the will power. Because (pardon my french) but this really is no effin joke.

Each morning when I wake up I turn on my coffee pot Then I go out to have a smoke While my coffee is still hot Each morning I say to myself I'll throw that cancer stick away But for some reason I keep smoking As I go about my day But today I'm going to try again And really try to quit Before it gets too late And my body becomes unfit So keep me in your prayers And say a prayer for me Then perhaps tomorrow morning I'll wake up and I'll be free From all that effin nicotine That has controlled me all these years Before it takes my life away And brings my loved ones dripping tears So I ask of you my friends Who still wake up each day and smoke If you'll try to quit with me Because this ain't no effin joke Then maybe tomorrow morning We'll all begin to see the sun And we'll live a little longer For the sake of everyone

Well my friend Charles, I can tell you this much...Lovely poem and all of that stuff, but when it comes to cigarettes...even the threat of death can't persuade the smoker, the Puff king will have his day... It's a silent killer...All the best...

Bravo Charles, I'm delighted that you've managed to break the cycle and finally give up smoking and you should celebrate this wonderful achievement. I hope your poem inspires other people to give up. I imagine it must be so so difficult to give up addiction of any sort and you should be so proud of what you've achieved:-) hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan, thanks so much for your kind words. It's a horrible addiction that only a smoker knows. I hope like you, that even if just one someone gets inspired by this and quits smoking, then it would be worth every second it took to write this. Hugs back at you dear..:-) Charlie xx
