For My Parents, Thank You
Thank you to my wonderful parents, with out whom I wouldn't be half the person I am today.
Thank you for everything you do for me, every single day!
When I was sick, you did everything to make me better
Chicken soup with my medication, and a nice big comfy sweater
When I was sad, you did everything to make me smile
Favorite movies with some popcorn,
Laying on the couch for awhile
When I was curious, you would show me, we would explore
Anne Frank's hideout, Big Ben and The Louvre, who could want more?
You taught me about my heritage, that's really swell
Civil war reenactments, plantation trips, seen the liberty bell
You taught me about your heritage, I can never be dull
I speak English, et Français, y Español
I've learned to be compassionate and caring, just like you
I still donate clothes every year, and give those in need food.
I was always top of the class, you are both great teachers
A principal and a professor, I didn't stand a chance with either
I've grown into the person, the young woman, that I am today
With your wisdom and intellect leading the way.
40 years you've been together, that is amazing, that is love
We will follow your example, ending all disagreements with hugs
Never giving up, alway working as a team
Relationships aren't always as easy as they seem
Yet you have stuck it through and always given me the best
Now are marriages are equal, thank you Supreme Court of the U.S.!
