For My Mother

Thought for you an ode I'd write Wondered about what I might So much to tell,so much to say Beyond what words and lines can convey Inside of you I'd move,I'd kick Bounded by the warmth like the candle's wick You gave me life, taught me to learn Like the wax melts down so the wick can burn You felt my pain, when I cried you wept You stayed awake until I had slept In joy I laughed, you laughed along I am 'coz of you, to you I belong You corrected the wrong, the right you taught Punished at times but forgave and forgot You gave, you blessed, you did, you shared You loved boundlessly, you felt, you cared The love that can be matched by none other The elixir of life is you my mother.
