For Ijada

The first face you ever saw was mine
I gazed into your crystal blue eyes
and began to drown in the love there
Not understanding my words, only my sigh

I breathed you into my soul
your hand upon my cheek
The softness of your milky skin
My strength left me, and you made me weak

I remember weeping holding you in my arms
That day I’ll always recall, like a precious pearl
On that cold December night
I gave birth to my baby girl.
