For Husbands and Fathers

Husbands and fathers, I’ve got a song for you.
We know it’s difficult to do what you should do.
There are no easy answers, unfortunate but true…
It’s easy to believe that no one appreciates
Just how tough it can be the Lord to emulate.
Seems like we’re falling short and always running late.

	But if you’re seeking peace of mind, happiness and such
	Seems to me it shouldn’t take that much… Just
	Don’t sweat it if you’re starting to go gray.
	Keep in mind the good Lord gives, the good Lord takes away.
	Every night, in good and bad, get on your knees to pray.
	Tell your wife you love her every day.
	And tell your kids you love them every day.

Everyone might say, “Stay down when you get hit.”
Anger and fear and pride will tell you, “Go on, quit.”
Just hold your head up high and you will get through it.
Keep heaven in your sight, take your family’s hands.
Take up your cross and follow to the promised land.
We might not get answers but one day we’ll understand.

		Reflect the Father’s love.
		Reflect the Savior’s light.
		Just do the best you can.
		The Holy Ghost will help you do it right.

Husbands and fathers, we’ve got a job to do.
Teaching our children what’s good, what’s right, what’s true.
Help them keep heaven always in their view.

	But if you’re seeking peace of mind, happiness and such
	Seems to me it shouldn’t take that much… Just
	Don’t sweat it if you’re more than a little gray.
	Keep in mind the good Lord gives, when the government takes it away.
	Every night, in good and bad, get on your knees to pray.
	Tell your wife you love her every day.
	And tell your kids you love them every day.
