For Dad

He has been gone for nine long years,
I’ll never forget his face,
Or the times we shared together,
At his favorite place.

We had great laughs through the times,
And also some sad cries,
But to think that all of that is gone,
Has got me full of sighs.

I’ll never forget the things he’s said,
Like how to drive a car,
And what is right and what is wrong,
And never go too far.

I only wish I could see him once more,
But that has long since failed,
For I know the seas of life,
Can never again be sailed.

I know it’s hard to say goodbye
But the time is almost here.
I hope dad knows I’ll never forget,
Every wonderful year.
