For Christy's Son

I don't know how old you are
But I know one thing for sure
You all need to become who you are
Not who you were

All my sons got in trouble
Before coming to live with me
Some are on probation
Others, not even a high school degree

They all have absent fathers
Anger had built up deep inside
Some have children they can't see
Others did drugs in which to hide

Some got attention
From highway cops
Others started fights
But the pain never stops

Until you see
Deep within yourself
Forgiveness is step one
It's untouchable wealth

Forgive yourself
For the pain your causing others
It's the hardest of all
On us loving mothers

My boys hug and kiss me
Each and every day
It's something men don't show
Usually ego and stupidity get in the way

You just haven't reach a secure path
To guide you through life
Your child will always be yours
Just talk to your wife

A bottle, a whiff,
A drag or two
Whatever your thinking
Is killing us and you

I have a full house
Each and every day
Huge issues rising
But our love paves the way

Each has an out
Something to vent away the hate
We just join together
For our life can't wait

There is nothing you can do
To make me judge if you've been good or bad
There is nothing more painful
Than a son without a dad

Bury the pain
Maybe in a knee cap or a toe
Leave all the room in your heart
For your new life to glow

If you need me
Let your mother know
I'm not going anywhere
I have girls too ya know

Love the new found inspiration of poets I have been reading today. Glad to see your poetry among them Teresa. May the sun always shine down upon you and continue to bring inspiration to your soul. Love, Carol
