Footsteps

Footsteps echoe in the distance, The darkness has no where to hide, The skies are open to swallow fear, The moonlight is only a guide. Along the concrete the soundwaves break, As my footsteps wander alone, The wind whispers warnings of death, The rustling trees moan. Shadows creep along the side, The morning is far but near, From this point my tears have dried, but the memories have not been cleared. Clouds pile above me, Lightning breaks up the skies, Fog is the only thing I see, Hopes of escaping go by. Tears are streaming down my face, The blade is in my hand, I close my eyes as thoughts go by, It's time to take command. The blade is pressed against my wrist, I hold my breath in fear, Blood flows from my veins, I'm no longer trapped in here.
