Footprints

Little girl standing at the door I ask her, "Who are you waiting for?" Without movement she says, "He'll be here.." Hours go by and the girl has not moved 'Cuz if she did it would be a second she'd lose Days go by and the girl's smile is gone Her eyes eager to hide all the wrong Weeks gone and she's sitting at the door You could see her footprints in the floor Months pass and pain fills her heart Where was the sunshine in this dark? Years gone, she's twenty now The happy lil girl now wears a frown No sign of him, hurt, she leaves the door "Bye daddy," she says walking away leaving nothing but her footprints in the floor. SS
