Footprints

Each set I leave behind me
Are much larger than before,
As the waves that move around them
Shape them into something more...
What started out as baby steps
Upon the sands of time,
Are molded into what has kept
Me on this narrow line...
The times I see a trail or two
Of footprints under mines,
I'm sure it is the father
And his path for me to find...
No matter what my task is
And no matter what the pain,
I know that all he asks is
love his life so they remain...
