Footprints

A gentle crunch through a cold winter
A careful walk no sprinter
Slippery through crisp white snow
Only footprints on show
The quietness that snow brings
The crisp air rushes by clings
An imprint on the ground
A crunch is the only sound
Songbirds in the distance singing
Each step a new beginning
Every step is unique
Some deep some weak
Every flake more unique than the last
Time to say goodbye to the past
When the snow melts away
Footsteps melt to display
The ground beneath revitalised
A new attitude finalised
