Foolish Heart

FOOLISH HEART

They say one’s born every minute
I’m the biggest of them all
You’re the one who created me
built me up then made me fall

Without enough respect
to look me in the eye
What were you afraid of?
Your eyes can’t hide behind the lies

I want to hurt you-make you feel pain
And break you down to tears
build up all your hopes and dreams
then shatter them with your deepest fears

I pray to god you understand
I’m not trying to sound cruel
but I really want you to know
how it feels to be a fool

And if and when we meet again
try hard to play your part
Remember just how easy it was
to break this foolish heart

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have checked out some of your work, and I love everything I've read. My problem is finding the time to read more. I'm a widow raising 2 kids and work full time. I get on here and it becomes a "time suck" I can't afford right now. But I will try my best to carve out some time each day to read as much as I can.

Thank you for the warm smile and well wishes. I feel like I've finally found a place I belong. It feels so wonderful to get feedback from such talented poets. Especially since I've never studied writing, in any form, except the limited teaching in high school. A little about me...I'm a widow with 2 children (1 boy, 1 girl), both very talented writers themselves. I've read some of your work and have loved it. As I told Lyric Man, I need to find more time to get on here and read, but my free time is quite limited at the moment. Again, thanks for the warm welcome.
