Fly

How insignificant 
Is the life of a fly
Crushed against the window 
We think nothing of it
It's merely  a common house fly 
An irritating pest that deserves to die
Yet to itself 
Its life is just as important 
As that of you and I.

I know an Indian who surely believed that. I was a young kid stepping on ants and he came outside and yelled at me for killing them. Hard to know if insects have feelings comparable to ours, but there could be something to it!! Love your succinct style

Hi W.A. I feel as you do. A few years ago I killed a house fly. I felt such remorse. My grandson and I had a small burial service on my deck. Mr. Fly lies in a potted plant now. People think I am nuts. Will never kill another one. They are God's creations. I crush no living thing. This is a FAV..thank you. Pangie xx

Must admit this touched a nerve W.A. I wrote a poem about what really annoys you and flies where amoungst them. They land on you uou swat them away and they just carry on and treat it like its a game. But after reading your poem i thought do they know any different and are they not just as you so cleverly pointed out just going about there daily fly business.
