Flowers are Weeds

A neighbor girl seeing my spring flowers
asked her mother aren't the flowers pretty?
Flowers are weeds she barked, rather sharp.

It is a shame for those who cannot see
in simple things there is great beauty
A flower blooms and color display
birds and bees feed by its sway
A promise with petals and long stem
waving hello to all in the wind
How can flowers not bring a smile
enjoying them blooming all the while
Nothing last forever but in time joy
pretty flowers win aw from girls and boys
give flowers to a love true a gift for sight
sniff the roses fresh and new for senses delight
For flowers unfold into the sun
life renewed and the earth dressed young
The neighbor girl ask of me
if she could pick flowers for her mom to see
I spoke kindly
Please let the flowers be
they are there for all to enjoy and see.
