florida palm trees

somewhere I stand
on a beach
white granules

wrap around base
blanketing me
from daily harm

with my wide fronds
I shade myself
from harmful rays

or thunderstorms
or even a
passing scared bird

that drops a gift
I'm a symbol
to travelers
welcoming them
to Sunshine State
great place for palms

great place altogether these days. Nice 'deep red' state, where they the wokesters fear to tread.
