summer's plentiful houseflies eat cat food, dog poop.... slurp coffee, cough, spit
These past three summers have been awful for houseflies and blowflies coming inside my home every time a door is opened. I use fly swatters and bug spray to try to kill them but not so successful sometimes. Twice here lately I have seen one in my nearly empty glass or coffee cup. Yuck. Thank God I saw it before I drank!!!! I think this is probably a combination of Senryu and Haiku

Nice oriental. I know, sometimes fly paper works best. It's always hanging around for them to get stuck to. Outside on the porch or by a doorway is a good idea. We have spider issues more than flies here! Yuck.

Kathy, I think next summer that I will buy a supply of fly paper to help rid the area around my home of those pest. Your comment is uplifting. Sara

Really well done here Sara. Flies are horrid little creatures. They seem to love to buzz around when you are trying to eat or sleep. Great job, love your sense of humor. God Bless, JB

Oh my, Sara! The only thing worse than finding a fly in your soup is finding one half-eaten. So nice to see you writing again. It does have the qualities of both senryu and haiku. Well done, my friend. Hope you are staying well and active. Hugs, carolyn

Carolyn, Thanks for dropping by. About three days ago I had drank three sips of coffee and picked up my cup and there it was a dead fly. I was very unhappy about it ruining my coffee but I just poured it out. I was watching the news when it happened. We are okay so far. Sara

So sorry to hear. We had a battle with horseflies last year. What a nightmare! Great poem that shows off your disgust.

Fly tape has been my hero. We've dealt with flies bad here at our old farm house. I think your poem does a great job in showcasing exactly how distrubing the little blighters can be. thanks for sharing

Jesse, I have wondered if that would be a successful way of helping control the population that has exploded here. I appreciate you dropping by. Sara

Harry, That is not a good thought. Australia has many dangerous species over there so I see on TV. An interesting place to live though I am sure. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Demetrios, Thanks for the visit to my page. It is not pleasant to find a fly in the cup or glass but at least I did not drink from it. Saved by looking first. Sara

The pet industry spends billions every year to persuade people to bring animals indoors and flies follow the poop. If you have neighbours who don't keep their yards free of poop, you will indeed suffer! Aloha! Rico

Rico, We live rural so we are surrounded by wild animals like deer, bobcats, all kinds of birds, coyotes, who are leaving waste behind so we can't control what comes to all of that. Thanks for stopping by. Your comments were helpful. Sara

Eve, It has been awful at our home for about three summers now and they do come inside. I do dislike them. I am sure they have a purpose but I can't decide if they are necessary or not. I know God has the most knowledge so I will leave it up to him. Thanks for dropping by.
