Flashing Back
Flashing back to a place
Where the past is there face to face
Time is endless, memories true
It's now the retake of the younger you
Calling out for answers now
Feeling the regret, asking "How?"
Or maybe "Why?" is the biggest one
The way or self you have become
You're seven years old and all alone
You're walking in your Georgia home
Hearing songs that once were played
Visualizing the twelve years of where you stayed
These memories grasp and pull your heart
But not the means to tear it apart
Just to remind you of a better era past
To one more time allow your hopes to last
Many things we wish not to see
But it's just the way it has to be
Lessons learned and heartaches brought
It's just fate not what you sought
Keep pressing on through these past times
For it may soon be the end of in the line
Not saying you will pass away or never dream
But memories never twice may be what they seem
