This same thing happened to me trying to water ski and getting stuck under the water. I never really could get into that sport again. Congrats on first place.

Some flashbacks can be scary and yours is one of them. I used to love the ocean, but now I prefer swimming in a pool. There are no creepy shadows beneath the surface.... You used your 15 words well to tell an interesting story Edward. Congrats.

This reminds of some loved ones of mine and how they almost drowned but were saved! Youve written something that is personal and different and one that leaves an emotive impression so poetically!
