Flashback

Embers of forgotten love Resurrected, plain and clear, Burn fiercely for a moment last, And in a moment, disappear Brought on by open highway roads And signs that flash before my eyes, A sudden flood of joy and pain Now rushes through my pensive mind I feel as if I’m coming home – My frantic heart begins to race, And yet I feel as if I’m lost, And my soul sinks and trails away One moment I’m embraced by God, The next I have been turned to stone; I feel a warmth encase my heart, Then wake to find that I'm alone.

That's quite sad, although very well written. Great use of imagery to express your heart in flashback. Thanks for sharing. Caroline.

What a journey, I felt the flashback as real as life. Beautiful write, lovely flow and emotion to it.
