Flashback
Embers of forgotten love
Resurrected, plain and clear,
Burn fiercely for a moment last,
And in a moment, disappear
Brought on by open highway roads
And signs that flash before my eyes,
A sudden flood of joy and pain
Now rushes through my pensive mind
I feel as if I’m coming home –
My frantic heart begins to race,
And yet I feel as if I’m lost,
And my soul sinks and trails away
One moment I’m embraced by God,
The next I have been turned to stone;
I feel a warmth encase my heart,
Then wake to find that I'm alone.
