Flame Dreams

The flame on the horizon pales
Like melting mists on flapping sails,
Such incandescent evening fire
That seeks no monument to blame
For who needs more than night soft flame,
For such a flame of angel fire
Within the candle’s silvered glow
Shows more than we will ever know,
And more than dreams that we desire.
