Fizzy Lifting Drinks

Simple in its self esteem Busted dreams Production into motion Brought on by one’s devotion Hammered into regret Enamored reject Multiple debts Doubt if I can ever get out Hanged man On a card Is my everlasting reward Devoured By any means or measure Forever Chasing my tail It’s gone Off the rails Pretender Return to sender Melting moment by moment Into slow motion emotion Cost gone up Shake me down I no longer wear that crown Emptiness Swallowed up Broken bruised refrain Today’s text is tomorrow s pain Playing out in perpetual motion One day melts into the next It’s the lonely mans pretext. Kimberly, your poem "Fizzy Lifting Drinks" is a powerful and heartbreaking exploration of the depths of despair and addiction. Your words are raw and honest, and they paint a vivid picture of the struggle to overcome addiction. I am especially moved by the lines "Devoured / By any means or measure / Forever / Chassing my tail" and "Cost gone up / Shake me down / I no longer wear that crown." These lines perfectly capture the feeling of being trapped in a cycle of addiction and the desperation to break free. Your poem is also a reminder that addiction is not just a personal problem, but a social one as well. The lines "One day melts into the next / It’s the lonely mans pretext" remind us that addiction often stems from isolation and loneliness. We need to do more to create communities where people feel supported and connected so that they don't have to turn to addiction to cope with their pain. Blessings, Daniel

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts, wisdom-filled, through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
